After receiving thousands of comments in October, the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) determined that the Natural Resources Defense Council petition to list river herring as “threatened” under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) merits review. We need you to speak out now for river herring to ensure that NMFS undertakes a comprehensive and independent scientific review and does not cut corners or yield to outside pressures. The once staggering number of river herring was a symbol of North America’s ecological wealth. With your help, it can be so again.
